You can either eat at the Plaza or take it with you to the beach. There are several dining options at Coligny Plaza. Save yourself a ton of time and head to the Piggly Wiggly at Coligny Plaza to pick up your beach toys. We spent about 45 minutes searching for beach toys. I purposely didn’t pack beach toys because they take up too much room and I thought there would be tons of stands with beach toys at the beach. The main chair rental at Coligny Beach is Shore Beach Service. It also means that you can arrive at any time, see my point above. This will ensure that you have chairs and an umbrella when you arrive at the beach. If you are going to rent chairs at the beach, call ahead a time and reserve them. We arrived around 1pm and literally picked up the last rental chair on the beach. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but the beach was packed! I would get there prior to noon to claim your spot and enjoy the sun. We were not prepared for the thousands of people at the beach when we arrived. So many lessons learned and I’m going to share them with you!

We planned a full day to hit the beach and play, but we came a bit unprepared: no food, no beach toys and no planned rental chairs. It’s about an hour away and a great way to spend the day. We recently went to Savannah, Georgia on vacation (you can view my full travel guide here) and took a day trip to Hilton Head Island. If you are headed to Hilton Island, especially Coligny Beach this post is for you. The most useful information comes from people who have already gone and share their honest feedback. While I use sites like Tripadvisor and look for travel reviews I also search for blog posts to see a real life look at a vacation spot. Beach supplies, including their world famous Piggly Wiggly Coligny T shirt, of which I think I might be the only person in the entire North Eastern /Mid Atlantic Unites States of America to own one.When I plan a vacation I literally do days of research before booking the actual vacation. All the fine delicacies you could possibly want to eat on vacation. This is one fine supermarket for three reasons: 1. It is not the ragged people who come here - looking for places only they would know, because let’s face it, Hilton Head has a no ragged people policy. There couldn’t possibly really be a store called Piggly Wiggly could there? Then, I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy, in the company of strangers, in the quiet of the railway station, running scared… to go and live in the South and find out for myself.
Has frikkin Whole Foods been mentioned with love in landmark movies? I do not think so, but the Pig has been named with love in Steel Magnolias and O Brother Where art Thou?, to name but two, I remember being a young teenager in Ireland in the late 80s and seeing Steel Magnolias for the first time. The world famous Piggly Wiggly of Coligny.
Nobody knows about it, it is called Superfresh. One of them is located in Spring Valley, Washington D.C. Let it be said, the East Coast of the United States of America has two of the best supermarkets on the planet. There are supermarkets and there are supermarkets.
